The Auckland-based group is in concert in Petone on Saturday for the Wellington Bluegrass Society. Hailed as one of the most excit- ing acoustic groups to come out of Auckland, Beyondsemble is a four-piece band that mixes several musical styles and lang- uages. The group weaves influences from bluegrass, Celtic, eastern European and gypsy with Latin and tango rhythms, seasoned with jazz, swing and rocksteady, to create a toe-tapping set. Aiming to put a fresh spin on international sounds, the quar- tet plays tunes full of texture and rich in subtlety. Formed in 2009, the group is currently on its third tour of the country and has just released a studio album recorded in May. All tracks were recorded live with minimal overdubs in order to stay true to our sound and approach to the music'', Craig Denham said.
